Music and the Dance of Life
Nov. 1999
At the edge of the inner vision's arc I caught
A dancer from another space and time
Whose feet descending earthward softly wrought
The rhythmed joy of deity sublime.
In a wondrous cloak enveloping our earth
Compassionately She sang of other spheres
And the coming of a superhuman birth,
Encouraging cessation of our fears.
One cannot know the force descending there,
Supporting bodies resonant with Her call,
The magnitude of light in Auroville's air
And Her summoning touch upon the sleeping soul.
Her cloudless smile unveiled the inner sun
And Soul shot forth leaving the Person behind
To follow in its wake, the future won
By the body of the Avatar affined.
By his compassionate infinity
He deals with the famous and the infamous
Equal applicants to divinity
And equal cosharers of nothingness.
So I chant the hymnic lines of stellar light
And dance to descending rhythms from the spheres
To release the dove to start its upward flight
And plant my feet to front the golden years.
